The Question We Get Asked Most From Guwahati

A 340-ish Score —
What Does Uttar Pradesh Actually Offer?

Let's be direct about state quota first: a score around 340 is not going to be competitive for a UP government MBBS seat. Government college closing scores in UP typically run far higher, and no honest consultant should tell you otherwise.

Private colleges are a different conversation entirely, and this is where Uttar Pradesh's sheer scale changes the picture. UP has one of the largest concentrations of private medical colleges anywhere in India. For management quota seats at these colleges, what matters most is that you hold a genuinely qualifying NEET UG score — not a high-ranking one. In our own experience guiding students through exactly this situation, a NEET UG 2026 score in the 340s has repeatedly been enough to secure an MBBS seat in Uttar Pradesh through management quota, with total course fees commonly landing in the region of ₹60 lakh across the full course, excluding hostel and mess charges.

Read that figure as a starting point, not a quote. ₹60 lakh is where we've seen many management quota seats in UP actually land, across the full MBBS course — it moves college to college, and it changes every admission cycle as seat availability shifts. Hostel, mess, and living costs sit outside that figure entirely and need their own budget line. We're telling you this range so you can plan realistically, not so you commit money based on a number from a webpage.

The reason UP comes up this often in our conversations with Northeast India families isn't chance. More private colleges means more seats genuinely on the table in any given year, which means more room to actually compare colleges on faculty, hospital attachment, and fee structure — rather than taking the first offer because it's the only one available.

Office of the Director General, Medical Education & Training, Uttar Pradesh, 2nd Floor, Kisan Bazar, Vibhuti Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. No. ME-3/2026/1492, dated 6 August 2026: “Time Schedule of First Round of Online Counseling Registration for UP NEET UG-2026.” Issued in continuation of the Medical Counselling Committee's own national timetable. Verify every date at upneet.gov.in or dgme.up.gov.in before you register or pay any fee. The ₹60 lakh management-quota fee range on this page is our own guidance figure, drawn from cases we have personally handled, not an official government publication — confirm exact, current fees directly with any specific college before committing.

How to use this page. Every date here was checked against the official counselling authority's own website on 7 August 2026. State authorities extend and revise deadlines at short notice, sometimes with only a few hours' warning, so treat this page as a starting point and confirm the current date on the official portal before you pay any fee. Orchid Education Foundation is an independent admission guidance firm. We are not an agent of any counselling authority, we cannot influence any allotment, and no seat in India can be obtained without a valid NEET UG 2026 score.

Questions Parents Ask Us

When does UP NEET UG 2026 Round 1 counselling registration open?
+

7 August 2026 at 12:00 PM, closing 12 August 2026 at 2:00 PM, for online registration and document upload. The fee and security money deposit window is slightly longer — the same 7 to 12 August dates, but open until 5:00 PM on the closing day. This is the Directorate General of Medical Education and Training, UP's own state quota round, issued in continuation of MCC's national timetable.

Can a NEET UG 2026 score of around 340 get an MBBS seat in Uttar Pradesh?
+

Through state quota government colleges, a score around 340 is unlikely to be competitive — UP's government MBBS closing scores typically run well above that. But UP has one of India's largest concentrations of private medical colleges, and through management quota at those colleges, a genuinely qualifying NEET score is often what actually matters, not a high one. In our experience guiding students through this exact situation, a score in the 340s has repeatedly been enough to secure an MBBS seat in Uttar Pradesh through the management quota route, with total course fees commonly landing in the region of ₹60 lakh across the course, excluding hostel and mess. That figure varies college to college and changes every admission cycle, so treat it as a starting point for a conversation, not a fixed number to plan a budget around blind.

What documents and fees does UP Round 1 registration need?
+

The notice itself covers only the schedule — registration and document upload, 7 to 12 August 2026, and fee plus security money deposit on the same dates. For the exact registration fee amount, security money figure, and full document checklist, DGME UP directs candidates to upneet.gov.in and www.dgme.up.gov.in, where the complete counselling brochure is published separately from this schedule notice.

Is UP state quota MBBS only for UP domicile candidates?
+

The schedule notice itself doesn't spell out the residential eligibility clause — that detail sits in the full counselling brochure on the official portals, not this time-schedule notice. What is clear either way: the 15% All India Quota through MCC remains open to any candidate regardless of home state, and UP's very large private medical college sector runs management quota admissions that are typically far less domicile-restrictive than the state quota itself.

Why does UP come up so often for management quota MBBS from Northeast India?
+

Scale, mostly. Uttar Pradesh has one of the largest numbers of private medical colleges of any state in India, which means more seats genuinely available through management quota in any given year compared to states with only a handful of private colleges. More available seats means real room to negotiate for a family, on fees and on college choice — it's a large part of why we point Northeast India families here so often when a government seat isn't realistically on the table this year.
