In one line: MCC has published the Round 2 schedule for PG-2026. Round 1 joining closed on 2 November. From Round 2, not joining an allotted seat can cost the security deposit, so read the rule before you choose.

What this means for your child
Registration closes at noon on 11 November but payment runs to 3 PM; do both early, because the portal slows near the end. Choice locking opens only at 4 PM on 11 November and closes at 10 AM on 12 November, so a plan to lock "at the last minute" leaves under 18 hours. Seats are allotted only through counselling; no college, consultant or agent can sell or reserve one, and capitation fee is illegal in India. Pay only through the official portal or to the college, against a receipt.

DNB (NBEMS) Seats Through MCC —
Reporting, Joining and First-Year Fee
| Point | What NBEMS says |
|---|---|
| Applies to | Candidates allotted NBEMS seats through the NEET PG AIQ 2026 counselling conducted by MCC |
| Who updates joining status | The NBEMS-accredited hospital updates reporting/joining on the Intra-MCC portal within MCC's timeline; if it does not, the seat is treated as vacant and carried to the next round |
| First-year course fee | NBEMS is not collecting the first-year fee during counselling. A candidate who freezes the seat pays the first-year annual fee to the allotted accredited hospital |
| If you float (opt for upgrade) | You do not pay the first-year fee while awaiting upgrade; you pay it to the institute you finally freeze. Hospitals must not collect it from candidates who chose FLOAT (UPGRADE) |
| At joining | Hospitals verify original documents and eligibility against the information bulletin, including a valid category certificate for reserved seats; the hospital's Medical Board conducts the medical examination and only medically fit candidates may join |
| Joining window | Join within MCC's reporting/joining window for the round; no extension of the reporting date. If upgraded, training counts from joining the upgraded seat |
| Employed or under a service bond | Bring a No Objection Certificate including study leave or relieving order at joining; joining before proper relieving is not considered. An extension of up to 90 days from the date of seat allotment is possible, not automatic, on an NOC or an acknowledgement of the resignation letter, after you report, complete document verification, pay the first-year fee and apply to NBEMS |
| After all rounds | The NBEMS OPJR portal for joining and registration stays inactive until all MCC rounds are over; a separate notice will follow |
| Penalty on hospitals | A hospital that knowingly or negligently forwards false, incorrect or deficient documents faces action, including a penalty of up to ₹1,00,000 per candidate |
What this means for your child
If your allotted seat is a DNB (NBEMS) seat, the money and paperwork go to the hospital, not to NBEMS accounts, and only after you decide to freeze. Do not pay a first-year fee while floating. If you are in government or bonded service, arrange the NOC and relieving order before the joining window, because NBEMS says it cannot relax MCC timelines.
This notice covers DNB seats only; medical college seats follow MCC's own rules. Seats are allotted only through MCC counselling on NEET PG rank; no agent can reserve one, and capitation fee is illegal in India.

Round 1 Provisional Result —
Report Discrepancies by 11:30 AM on 24 October
| Point | What MCC says |
|---|---|
| Round 1 provisional result | Published 23 Oct 2026, ahead of the 24 Oct date in the tentative schedule, on mcc.nic.in |
| Report a discrepancy | Up to 11:30 AM on 24 Oct 2026, through the Candidates Grievances and Query Redressal System on your candidate login portal |
| Status of the result | Provisional, only indicative, subject to change. A candidate cannot claim a right over a seat shown in the provisional result |
| When to go to the college | Only after the declaration of the Final Result. MCC advises candidates to approach the allotted college or institute only then |
| Final result and joining dates | Not stated in this notice. The tentative schedule lists joining from 26 Oct to 2 Nov; confirm both on mcc.nic.in before you travel |
| Where to check | mcc.nic.in · candidate login · Notice 5 under PG Medical Counselling |
What this means for your child
The window to question your result is a few hours wide and it closes before most colleges open. If your rank, category, quota or choice order looks wrong on the provisional result, raise it in the grievance system on your login before 11:30 AM on 24 October, and keep the acknowledgment. Do not email or phone; the notice names the portal route only. Do not travel yet. MCC says to approach the college after the Final Result, and a candidate who reports on a provisional result has nothing to report against. Treat 26 October as the earliest joining date in the schedule, not as a promise, until the final result is out. Seats are allotted by MCC on your rank and choices; no one can reserve or improve a PG seat for you. We do not reproduce candidate-wise results here. Check your own login.

MCC calls this a tentative schedule, so dates can move. It also tells colleges to treat Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted holidays as working days, so reporting windows run through weekends. Source: MCC, DGHS, tentative schedule for online counselling for NEET 50% AIQ and 100% deemed/central universities/AFMS PG courses, academic year 2026 (File No. U-12021/09/2026-MEC, generated 7 October 2026).
What MCC
Fills for PG
| Seat type | Who fills it | How |
|---|---|---|
| 50% All India Quota, government medical colleges | MCC | All India Rank order; open to candidates from every state |
| Deemed universities (100% of seats, including their NRI seats) | MCC | All India Rank; fees are set by each university |
| Central universities (100%) and AFMS | MCC | All India Rank |
| 50% State Quota, government colleges | State counselling authority | State merit list, domicile rules apply |
| Private college Government, Management and NRI seats | State counselling authority | State merit list from your NEET PG rank |
So one registration on mcc.nic.in is not enough for most people. State quota, management and NRI seats need a separate state registration, with its own fee and deadline. See our PG counselling deadline tracker for every state.
MCC Round 1
Step by Step
| # | Step | By when |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Register on mcc.nic.in and pay the fee and security deposit | 21 Oct, 12 noon (payment 3 PM) |
| 2 | Fill choices: branch and college, in your real order of preference | 22 Oct, 10 AM |
| 3 | Lock your choices | 21 Oct 4 PM to 22 Oct 12 noon (extended) |
| 4 | Check the result | 24 Oct |
| 5 | Report to the allotted college with original documents | 26 Oct to 2 Nov |
Times are server time. A deadline at 12 noon means 12 noon. Keep your NEET PG scorecard, MBBS certificate, internship completion certificate, medical council registration and category certificate ready before you start.
No one can reserve or sell an MD/MS seat. Every PG seat, management and NRI quota included, is allotted only through MCC or state counselling on your NEET PG rank. Pay fees only to the college or university, against a receipt.
MCC Is Your
Widest Door
For a doctor from Assam or anywhere in the Northeast, MCC is the one counselling where your home state does not matter. Fill it carefully. Round 1 is where the best seats go, and a rushed choice list is the most common mistake we see.
Then register for your own state’s PG counselling for state quota seats, and for open-merit states if your budget allows private seats.
