Round 3 Merit List Out; Two Big Colleges Become Private Universities

SMBT Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Nashik is moving to Deemed University status. Once that takes effect, 100 percent of its seats will be filled through MCC All India deemed-university counselling on mcc.nic.in instead of the Maharashtra State CET Cell, with no domicile restriction. Check the MCC seat matrix of each round to see whether SMBT is listed under deemed universities.

Yes. In August 2026 the Maharashtra cabinet approved N.K.P. Salve Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur (now Lata Mangeshkar Private Medical University) and Dr. Vithalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation’s Medical College, Ahilyanagar (now Balasaheb Vikhe Patil University) as private universities. For MBBS and BDS, 40 percent of seats are reserved for Maharashtra domicile candidates through the State CET Cell and 60 percent are open to all-India candidates through MCC from Round 2. For MD and MS, 40 percent are for candidates who passed MBBS from Maharashtra, with state reservation, and 60 percent for MBBS graduates from outside Maharashtra, through Maharashtra state counselling. Admitted students are not eligible for state scholarships or fee reimbursement.

MAHACET Notice No. 18 (No.MED-1026/CR.83/UG-2026/Registration & CAP 3/Group A/2300), dated 22 September 2026, confirms that Registration/CAP Round 2 for MBBS and BDS is completed, and opens registration and CAP Round 3 for MBBS/BDS (Group A) to fill seats remaining vacant after Round 2. Online registration for newly registered candidates runs 22–26 September, up to 6:00 PM; payment of registration fees through the online payment gateway runs the same 22–26 September window, up to 8:00 PM; and uploading colour-scanned copies of original requisite documents runs to 11:00 PM on 26 September. Document verification through online mode, for newly registered candidates, runs 22–28 September. The combined registered candidate list and the combined provisional merit list for Group A both publish 29 September, and grievances, which require supporting documentary proof, can be submitted 30 September to 1 October, up to 11:59 PM. Notice No. 18 does not yet state choice-filling, allotment-result or reporting dates for Round 3 — those stages will follow separately, per the information brochure, once notified.

A counselling update circulating on 12 September 2026 claims that MBBS/BDS (Group A) CAP Round 2 choice/preference filling was extended to 12 September, 10:00 AM — an apparent two-day extension from the 10 September, 11:59 PM close stated in MAHACET Notice No. 13 (No.MED-1026/CR.No.83/UG-2026/CAP-2/MBBS-BDS/2818), dated 5 September 2026. No dated CET Cell notice confirming this extension has been found; only this counselling-update text claim, without a notice number, is available as of 12 September 2026. If choice filling has genuinely moved to 12 September morning, it raises an open question of whether the Round 2 selection list — also dated 12 September in Notice No. 13 — shifts too, since declaring a selection list the same morning a filling window closes would be an unusually tight turnaround. Please verify directly on cetcell.mahacet.org before assuming extra time to submit or edit choices.

Notice No. 13 (No.MED-1026/CR.No.83/UG-2026/CAP-2/MBBS-BDS/2818), dated 5 September 2026, opens CAP Round 2 for MBBS/BDS (Group A) to fill seats left vacant after Round 1. The seat matrix for Round 2 publishes 7 September, online choice/preference filling runs 8 to 10 September up to 11:59 PM, and the CAP Round 2 selection list is declared 12 September. Physical joining at the allotted college, with all original documents and requisite fees by demand draft, runs 13 to 18 September, excluding 14 September; payment by cheque is allowed on bank holidays but must be replaced with a demand draft on the next working day, or the admission can be cancelled. The academic session is stated to commence 15 September 2026. This schedule is explicitly subject to change per MCC, AACCC, Central Government, State Government or court directions.

The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell, the Competent Authority for admission to undergraduate Health Science courses in the state. Notice No. 03, dated 5 August 2026, opens the Registration Schedule for the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for MBBS and BDS — classified as Group A courses — for the 2026-27 academic year, covering Government, Government Aided, Municipal Corporation, Private Unaided and other notified Medical and Dental Colleges in Maharashtra.

Online registration and session apply originally ran 6 to 12 August 2026. Notice No. 08, dated 14 August 2026, extended that window to 15 August, up to 8:00 PM; payment of registration fees closed 15 August, 10:00 PM, and uploading scanned original documents closed 15 August, 11:59 PM. Then Notice No. 10, dated 19 August 2026, reopened registration a second time — but only for candidates who had not registered under Notice No. 03 or 08 — from 20 August, 8:00 PM to 21 August, 8:00 PM, with payment (also open to earlier registrants who hadn't paid) to 21 August, 10:00 PM, and document upload to 21 August, 11:59 PM. If you already registered and paid, none of this second window applies to you.

Yes. The notice states this in its own important instructions: separate registration with the State Competent Authority is mandatory for participation in Maharashtra's State Quota counselling, irrespective of whether you've registered with MCC for All India Quota counselling. The two processes don't share data automatically — you have to do both.

You will not be considered for admission from your claimed category. The notice is explicit that failure to upload the requisite documents within the given period, in the prescribed format, is entirely the candidate's own responsibility, and it can mean cancellation of the form. Get your documents scanned in colour and ready before the window opens, not after.

31 August to 4 September 2026, up to 5:30 PM, per the confirmed schedule in Notice No. 10 (19 August), which superseded the 26-30 August window Notice No. 08 had originally set. The notice allows payment by cheque on bank holidays, to be replaced with a demand draft on the next working day — but if that replacement DD isn't submitted on that next working day, the admission itself can be cancelled. This whole schedule remains subject to change per MCC, AACCC, Central or State Government, or court directions, so confirm the current joining dates on cetcell.mahacet.org before you travel.

It may still change. Notice No. 12, dated 26 August 2026, discloses that NTA had withheld the results of certain candidates, and that the Hon’ble High Courts of Bombay and Delhi have ordered those candidates’ results declared and the candidates included in the ongoing CAP process. The courts directed the results be shared with the CET Cell by 27 August 2026, after which a Revised Final Merit List will be published. To accommodate this, preference forms can be edited multiple times up to 29 August, 5:30 PM, by unlocking with an OTP sent to your registered email and mobile — so you can revise choices even after a revised list appears. The rest of the schedule, including CAP Round 1 declaration on 30 August, is unchanged.
