Super Specialty —
The Pinnacle of Indian Medicine

DM and MCh are India's highest clinical degrees. OEF guides MD/MS doctors through NEET SS, management quota seats, and fellowship placements — honestly.

Understanding Super Specialty

DM vs MCh vs Fellowship —
Clearly Explained

Super specialty is the highest tier of clinical expertise in Indian medicine — 3 years of intense, focused training after MD or MS. The choice you make here defines your peak earnings and legacy.

DM — Doctorate of Medicine: After MD. Non-surgical. Cardiology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Endocrinology, Pulmonology, Haematology, Oncology.

MCh — Magister Chirurgiae: After MS. Surgical. Neurosurgery, Urology, CVS Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Surgical Oncology.

Fellowship: 1–2 year programmes at Apollo, Fortis, Manipal, Medanta. More accessible than DM/MCh, internationally recognised, strong career value.

NEET-SS 2025 Round 2 Just Got
Reopened by Court Order

If you are mid-way through NEET Super Specialty counselling right now, read this before you do anything else on the MCC portal. The schedule changed twice in 48 hours, and one of those changes came from the Delhi High Court, not MCC itself.

What happened. In Writ Petition (C) No. 11097/2026, “Sunil & Anr. v. Medical Counselling Committee,” the Hon’ble Delhi High Court, by order dated 5 August 2026, directed MCC to allow the petitioner candidates to re-register and participate in Round 2 of NEET-SS 2025 counselling. Rather than fight this piecemeal, MCC's Competent Authority withdrew its earlier 3 August 2026 notification entirely, with immediate effect, and rebuilt the Round 2 schedule from scratch.

What this means for you, right now. The resignation portal — for candidates who want to give up their Round 1 allotted seat before Round 2 — stays open to every candidate until 4:00 PM on 7 August 2026. New registration and choice filling for Round 2 does not resume until 10:00 AM on 9 August 2026, running on the revised schedule below. If you were watching for an earlier date because of the withdrawn notification, that date no longer applies.

The Revised Round 2 Schedule, in Full

StageWindowDuration
Resignation from Round 1 allotted seat10:00 AM, 6 Aug – 4:00 PM, 7 Aug 20262 days
Verification of seat matrix by institutes8 August 20261 day
RegistrationUp to 6:00 PM, 10 August 2026 (server time)3 days
Payment facilityUp to 9:00 PM, 10 August 2026 (server time)
Choice fillingUp to 5:00 PM, 11 August 20261 day
Choice locking10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, 11 August 2026
Processing of seat allotment12 August 20261 day
Result13 August 20261 day
Reporting14 – 20 August 20267 days

Registration and choice locking both have separate closing times on the same day — 10 August for registration and payment, then 11 August for filling and locking choices. As always, MCC directs every participating institute to treat Saturdays, Sundays and holidays as working days for this entire window, given how little time the revised cycle leaves.

What a court order mid-counselling actually tells you. This isn't the first time a NEET-SS cycle has been reshaped by litigation after it was already running, and it likely won't be the last. If your career timeline can't absorb a week of uncertainty every time a writ petition lands, a private or deemed-university DM/MCh seat — or a Fellowship at a hospital like Apollo, Fortis, Manipal or Medanta — runs on the institution's own calendar, not a court's. We're not saying skip the government process; we're saying don't let this be the only door you're watching. Talk to us about both routes at once →
