Critical Knowledge

The ₹3 Lakh Deposit Mistake
Most NEET Students Make

Read this before any counselling round decision. This is OEF's single most important piece of guidance.

R1
Round 1 — Safe Exit

Most states allow leaving a Round 1 management quota seat without losing your deposit. OEF always prioritises Round 1 confirmation for this reason. Zero wasted deposits for 17 years.

R2+
Round 2+ — Deposit Permanently Forfeited

Accept a seat in Round 2, Mop-up, or Stray Vacancy and do not join? Your entire deposit is permanently lost — no exceptions, no appeal, no refund possible.

OEF's 17-year record: Zero wasted deposits for students who followed OEF's Round 1 strategy. Our expertise saves families ₹1–3 Lakhs every counselling season.

Common Questions

MBBS Admission FAQs

What NEET score is needed for management quota MBBS?
+

Only the qualifying NEET percentile is required for management quota MBBS — 50th percentile for General category, 40th for SC/ST/OBC. You do not need a high rank. You simply need to have appeared in NEET and qualified. OEF guides students with qualifying scores every year into NMC-approved colleges.

What is the cheapest MBBS management quota fee in India?
+

West Bengal has India's lowest MBBS management quota fees starting from approximately ₹6,50,000 per year. Murshidabad Medical College and KPC Medical College are among the most affordable NMC-approved options. For the full state-wise fee list, see our Colleges page or call OEF at 9085064444.

Is NEET mandatory for management quota MBBS?
+

Yes, NEET UG is mandatory for all MBBS admissions in India including management quota, NRI quota, and government seats. Any consultant or agent claiming MBBS admission without NEET is misleading you. The only requirement for management quota is the qualifying percentile — not a high rank.

What happens to the deposit if I do not join in Round 2?
+

If you accept a management quota seat in Round 2, Mop-up, or Stray Vacancy rounds and do not report to the college, your security deposit (₹1–3 Lakhs depending on state) is permanently forfeited with no exceptions. This is why OEF always works to secure Round 1 seats for students. OEF has maintained a zero wasted deposit record for 17 years.

For Northeast India Students

Open Category Advantage —
NE India Can Apply Anywhere

Students from Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim can apply as Open Category candidates in any Indian state for management quota MBBS. No domicile restriction applies to private college management quota seats. A student from Nagaland pays the same Karnataka management quota fee as a student from Bangalore.

OEF has used this flexibility for NE India families for 17 years. We show students from Guwahati, Imphal, Shillong, and Kohima options across West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala simultaneously — ranked by NEET score, budget, and logistics. The right state for you depends on your score and what you can afford. We figure that out together in one free call.

West Bengal (WB) is closest to NE India and has large established NE India student communities in Kolkata and Durgapur. Odisha is also very accessible. Chhattisgarh (RIMS Raipur from ₹6L/year) is among the cheapest MBBS in India and accessible via flight from Guwahati. Karnataka (from ₹12L/year) is the most popular with the widest choice of colleges.

Why OEF for NE India Students

From Assam, Manipur, Nagaland,
Mizoram — OEF Understands Your Situation

Students from Northeast India — Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim — face unique challenges in the MBBS admission process. State quota seats in most of these states are limited. The competitive NEET ranks needed for government colleges are high. And information about management quota options in Karnataka, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and other states is often inaccurate or incomplete.

OEF has been guiding Northeast India students specifically since 2008 — from Guwahati to Imphal, from Shillong to Dimapur, from Agartala to Itanagar. We know the specific counselling process for NE state residents applying as Open Category candidates in other states. We know which Karnataka and Telangana colleges have strong NE India student communities. We know the realistic rank ranges needed in each state for management quota.

NE India students can apply as Open Category candidates to management quota seats in any state — there is no domicile restriction. OEF maximises this by presenting options across all states simultaneously, matched to your specific NEET score and budget. This is why OEF has guided over 2000 students from all 8 NE states successfully.

Assam & Meghalaya students

West Bengal (Durgapur, Kolkata) is closest — 12–14 hour drive or overnight train. Strong NE India student communities. Karnataka management quota is also highly popular. OEF has placed Assam and Meghalaya students across 15+ states.

Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram students

These states have very few private MBBS colleges. Most students need to study outside the state. Shija Hospitals Imphal is the only NMC-approved Manipur private option. Karnataka and WB are the top destinations OEF guides students to.

Arunachal Pradesh & Sikkim students

No NMC-approved private MBBS colleges in either state. All management quota options are outside. Chhattisgarh (cheapest), West Bengal (closest), and Karnataka (quality + variety) are OEF’s top recommendations.
