Before You Pay Anything,
Know the Rules
The legal part, in plain words. 1. No one can sell or reserve an MBBS seat. NEET UG is compulsory for every MBBS seat in India under the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, and every seat, management and NRI seats included, is allotted only through official counselling. OEF guides you through that process; we do not and cannot allot seats. 2. Capitation fee is illegal. The Supreme Court has held in a line of judgments (Unni Krishnan 1993, T.M.A. Pai Foundation 2002, P.A. Inamdar 2005) that colleges cannot charge capitation fees, and several states, Tamil Nadu among them, also have their own laws against it. In October 2025 the Rajasthan government directed private medical colleges to charge no amount other than the fee fixed by the State Fee Regulatory Committee and to refund any excess with 12% yearly interest (Careers360 report). 3. Pay only the college. Pay into the college’s official bank account against a numbered receipt, and keep every receipt. Never pay a seat amount to an individual, an agent or a personal account. OEF’s own service charge is separate and is paid to OEF only.
Five checks before you pay anything
- Your seat appears in the official counselling allotment letter, with your name and roll number on it.
- The college is on the current NMC list of recognised or permitted medical colleges for 2026-27.
- You have the college’s own fee schedule for your seat category: each year’s amount, deposits, and what each covers.
- Every rupee goes into the college’s official account, against a numbered receipt.
- You know the instalment dates and what happens to your fees if you resign or the seat is cancelled.
