The short answer. Register with MCC by 12 noon, 21 October 2026 and pay by 3 PM the same day. That covers 50% All India Quota seats and all deemed, central university and AFMS seats. Your home state runs its own counselling for state quota, management and NRI seats, on its own portal and with its own fee. Most students should do both. The PG academic session starts on 20 November 2026.

How to Plan Your PG Rounds
Start with MCC. Its 50% All India Quota and deemed university rounds are open to every eligible candidate in India, and Round 1 matters most because the best seats go first.
Then add your home state for state quota seats. After that, look at states that take outside candidates on open merit. Karnataka is one, but only under General (UR). Private management and NRI seats in other states go through those states’ own portals, each with a separate fee and deadline.
Get your state medical council registration and internship certificate ready now. In several Northeast states, council registration can take weeks, and no state will admit you without it.
No one can reserve or sell an MD/MS seat. Every PG seat, including management and NRI seats, is allotted only through MCC or state counselling on your NEET PG rank. Pay fees only to the college or university, against a receipt.
