MCC's Nationwide Extension Pushes Round 1 Registration to 25 August

Advertisement No. JCECEB/46/26-52, dated 8 August 2026 — a detailed notice for preparing the Merit List from NEET (UG)-2026 results and running the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Stray Vacancy rounds of online counselling. Acting on a direction from the Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department dated 7 August 2026, the Board is organising this counselling specifically for All India and NRI quota seats in MBBS at Laxmi Chandravansi Medical College & Hospital, Bishrampur, Palamu, and Netaji Subhas Medical College and Hospital, Adityapur, Seraikela-Kharsawan.

Revised on 11 August 2026 (Advt. No. JCECEB/46/26-56): applications run until 13 August 2026, with the merit list now published on 14 August 2026 — pushed back from the originally notified 7–11 August window and 12 August publication. Submission and editing continue simultaneously up to 13 August, 6 PM to midnight. Candidates who already applied for an earlier merit-list inclusion do not need to reapply for this window — the notice says so explicitly at point 3.

Round 1 (revised a third time on 21 August, Advt. -66, per MCC's nationwide extension direction of 19 August): for State Quota (MBBS/BDS), registration and choice filling now close 25 August, editing runs simultaneously on 25 August, seat allotment and provisional letter 27 August to 5 September, document verification and admission 28 August to 5 September. For All India Quota MBBS at the four named colleges, registration and choice filling now close 25 August, seat allotment 27 August to 5 September, admission 28 August to 5 September. All India Quota BDS at Vananchal Dental College and Hospital, Garhwa is covered by the same Advt. -66 revision with the identical dates: registration and choice filling close 25 August, seat allotment 27 August to 5 September, admission 28 August to 5 September. Round 2: new applications 25–28 August, merit list 30 August, choice filling 31 August–6 September, allotment letter 8–14 September, admission 9–14 September. Round 3: new applications 11–13 September, merit list 15 September, choice filling 16–24 September, allotment letter 26 September–1 October, admission 27 September–1 October. Stray Vacancy: new applications 28–30 September, merit list 2 October, choice filling 3–4 October, allotment letter 5–10 October, admission 6–10 October. Rechecked 25 August 2026 (the day Round 1 registration closes): Advt. -66 remains the latest and only revision to Round 1, and JCECEB has not issued a corresponding revision to Rounds 2, 3 or the Stray Vacancy round, though the same MCC direction that pushed Round 1 may still prompt one.

Advertisement No. JCECEB/46/26-66, dated 21 August 2026, states this revision is issued “in compliance of direction issued by Medical Counselling Committee, New Delhi on 19.08.2026 regarding extension of the schedule for 1st Round of UG State Counselling 2026” — a nationwide MCC instruction, not a Jharkhand-specific technical problem this time (unlike the 19 August revision, which cited a server glitch). For State Quota seats (MBBS & BDS), registration and choice filling — closing 21 August under the previous notice — now close 25 August, with editing simultaneous on 25 August; seat allotment and downloading of the provisional letter moves to 27 August–5 September; document verification and admission now run 28 August–5 September. For All India Quota MBBS at the four named colleges, registration closing moves to 25 August, with the same 27 August–5 September allotment window and 28 August–5 September admission window. A parallel All India Quota BDS track at Vananchal Dental College and Hospital, Garhwa (under Babu Dinesh Singh University) is named for the first time in this notice. Two other facts surfaced in the same notice: BHMS seats have not yet been received from the Health Department, so the Board will issue BHMS recommendations separately once available; and Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi has been authorised, vide Health Department letter dated 20 August 2026, to issue disability certificates for MBBS, BDS and BHMS admission from the 2026-27 session.

Age: 17 years completed by 31 December 2026, no upper age limit. Education: an individual pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English, with a minimum 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together at the qualifying exam, reduced to 40% for SC, ST and OBC-NCL candidates, and 40% for PwBD candidates as per NMC regulations. A valid NEET (UG)-2026 merit rank is mandatory.

Government institutions: ₹20,000 for UR/EWS, ₹10,000 for ST/SC/OBC/PWD. Deemed or Private medical colleges: ₹2 lakh. Stray/Mop-up round: ₹50,000 flat, regardless of institution. This deposit is separate from the registration, application and counselling fees, and is forfeited if admission is not taken after seat allotment in the second round or any round after it, or if the candidate gave wrong information or failed to produce original certificates. It is refunded within 3 months of the last counselling round if no seat was allotted, or if a valid admission was taken and it genuinely was not required.

This specific counselling is for All India Quota and NRI quota seats, which by definition are open beyond Jharkhand domicile — All India Quota seats are filled on NEET rank nationally, and NRI quota carries its own separate eligibility criteria and a distinct application format the notice mentions candidates must fill. The registration fee table also distinguishes Jharkhand residents from residents of any other region of India, confirming both groups are eligible to apply, just at different fee levels.
